Our projects are designed to address fundamental challenges and make a tangible impact in areas such as peacebuilding, economic development, environmental sustainability, and social empowerment.
Through strategic partnerships and a human-centered approach, we work to support women, youth, marginalized groups, and vulnerable communities by providing them with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to achieve prosperity.
Child Rights Enhancement – The Path to Change | 2023–2024
From September 19, 2023 to March 19, 2024, Nana Maren Organization implemented the “Path of Hope” project under the Under the Law (UtL) Program, aimed at strengthening civil society organizations (CSOs) as advocates for children’s rights in Libya. The initiative filled a critical gap in advocacy training and fostered collaboration between civil society and government stakeholders.
Why this project mattered
Children in Libya face significant challenges due to conflict, economic hardship, and weak protection frameworks. Many CSOs working with children lacked structured advocacy skills and tools to push for stronger legal and policy protections. This project equipped CSOs with the knowledge, tools, and networks necessary to create lasting change.
What we did
-
Capacity Building: Delivered two comprehensive training workshops on international and national child rights frameworks and evidence-based advocacy.
-
Advocacy Toolkit: Developed a practical Arabic toolkit tailored to Libya, guiding CSOs in planning and implementing impactful advocacy campaigns.
-
Networking & Coalition Building: Supported the creation of “The Libyan Group for Childhood” coalition, uniting 8 CSOs to coordinate efforts and amplify their voice.
-
Policy Engagement: Organized a high-level policy roundtable with representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Human Rights Committee of the State Council, and the Children’s Parliament Office.
-
Awareness Campaign: Designed and launched a social media campaign that reached over 275,000 people, raising public awareness on child rights and protection.
Key results
-
8 CSOs empowered with advocacy skills and resources.
-
2 training workshops conducted (8 women, 3 men participants).
-
1 policy roundtable with decision-makers and child rights advocates.
-
11 social media infographics and content posts developed and widely shared.
-
A strong and sustainable CSO coalition established to continue child rights advocacy.
Lessons learned
The project underscored the importance of culturally sensitive approaches, leveraging digital tools, and building strong relationships with both communities and policymakers. Continuous mentorship and networking proved vital to creating sustainable advocacy efforts.
What’s next
Nana Maren is collaborating with The Libyan Group for Childhood and the Children’s Parliament Office to develop new advocacy initiatives on children’s rights. The project’s outcomes have laid a long-term foundation for positive change and stronger child protection frameworks in Libya.
Entikhabati campaign
Entikhabati – Waseela Digital Civic Engagement & Election Awareness Campaign (2021)
In 2021, Nana Marne Organization, with support from UNDP and in coordination with the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE), launched the “Entikhabati” campaign to boost civic awareness and voter participation in Libya’s municipal elections. Running from February to July 2021 with a budget of 40,000 LYD, the project addressed low voter turnout—especially among women, vulnerable groups, and people with disabilities—through innovative digital and media outreach.
Why this project mattered
Libya’s municipal elections remain a new and evolving process, challenged by political fragmentation, armed conflicts, and a lack of trusted information channels. Citizens often prioritized daily survival over democratic participation. Nana Marne sought to bridge this gap by using digital tools and creative content to highlight the importance of civic engagement and voting.
What we did
-
Waseela App (Android & iOS): Developed and upgraded as a digital awareness platform featuring social articles, job opportunities, and election guidance. The app was downloaded by over 1,200 users, with daily engagement boosted by practical content like job listings.
-
Radio & Podcasts: Produced 8 episodes of the Waseela Podcast in collaboration with Awal Radio and Al Shoroq Radio (Hay Alandalus, Misrata, and Jabal al Gharbi). Topics ranged from women’s roles in society to the rights of people with disabilities.
-
Election Awareness Videos: Created 3 engaging videos explaining municipal elections, why voting matters, and how to use the Waseela app.
-
Social Media Campaigns: Published more than 100 creative designs on Facebook and Instagram, supported by targeted ads to increase reach and awareness.
Key results
-
1,200 app downloads and consistent daily users.
-
8 radio/podcast episodes broadcast across multiple regions.
-
3 videos and over 100 social media posts produced and shared.
-
Increased engagement through indirect awareness strategies that integrated civic messages into everyday content.
Lessons learned
The campaign revealed that combining social and civic topics—such as job opportunities or family issues—with election awareness significantly improves public engagement. Local radio also proved invaluable for reaching offline and rural audiences.
What’s next
Waseela has evolved into a ready-to-scale platform that can continue promoting civic awareness, women’s participation, and community engagement in future elections and social initiatives. Nana Marne is exploring partnerships to expand Waseela’s features and reach.

Plastic Recycling and Environmental Awareness
This project aims to reduce plastic waste in the central Tripoli municipality by promoting a culture of recycling and environmental awareness. The project includes both field and digital campaigns targeting households, markets, and mosques, raising community awareness about the importance of sorting plastics and reusing them to reduce pollution.
The project involves direct training sessions, digital content through social media platforms, and awareness advertisements to reach a wide audience. The experience will also be evaluated, and lessons learned will be shared to support similar future initiatives.
This project contributes to creating sustainable environmental awareness, encouraging responsible behaviors, and supporting local recycling initiatives, fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment in Libya.

Women's Empowerment for Peace and Stability Project
My Environment, My Responsibility
Nana Maren’s “My Environment, My Responsibility” initiative transformed waste management in Khums’ Mahlat Al-Baladiya. By collaborating with municipal authorities, local organizations, and community members, the project developed a comprehensive strategy to tackle random waste accumulation. Key achievements include:
- Strategic Planning: Conducted consultative meetings with stakeholders to assess waste management challenges and design an effective improvement strategy.
- Community Engagement: Launched an extensive public awareness campaign through local radio, social media, and printed materials to educate residents on waste separation and recycling.
- Infrastructure Upgrade: Installed 50 packages of dedicated waste collection bins for paper, plastic, and organic waste in strategic public locations.
- Sustainable Practices: Coordinated regular waste collection and maintenance while promoting recycling initiatives that supported community health programs.
This integrated approach not only enhanced the municipality’s aesthetics and cleanliness but also empowered the community to participate actively in preserving their environment.
