As part of the Women’s Empowerment for Security and Peace Project in Libya, our meeting with Dr. Rabia Aburas, a member of the Libyan Parliament, served as a beacon of hope illuminating the paths of peace in our country.

Just as the bee symbolizes hard work and cooperation, Dr. Rabia embodies the spirit of inspiring women in peacebuilding. She has had successful experiences in reconciliation in the south and other areas of Libya.

During this meeting with the Libyan Women for Peace Forum, Dr. Rabia shared her success stories and challenges, emphasizing the importance of learning from past experiences.

Key outcomes of this meeting included:

  • Opening communication channels with decision-makers in various fields, including security and military institutions, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, civil institutions supporting women, and international organizations supporting peacebuilding efforts.

Dr. Rabia also expressed her readiness to support the forum by opening communication channels with reconciliation bodies and state institutions across Libya, reflecting our collective commitment to achieving peace and stability.
